Privacy Policy
Effective June 1, 2026
1. Who we are
Chu Court Academy is a small, family-run tennis and pickleball coaching practice operated by Cheryl Schwientek in Davis, California. This policy explains what information we collect when you use chucourtacademy.com, how we use it, and your choices.
2. Information you give us
We only collect information you choose to share, namely:
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message.
- Camp registration: parent or guardian name and phone number, plus for each camper: name, age, allergies or medical notes you choose to share, potty-trained status, and equipment selections (own racket/paddle, loaner needed).
- Liability waiver: the parent or guardian name typed as an electronic signature, the waiver version, and the timestamp of signing.
- Photo-release preference: whether you opted out of letting us use camp photos for promotional purposes.
We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies on this site.
3. Payment information
Card payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number, CVC, or expiration date. From Stripe we receive the payer's name and email, the amount paid, and a transaction ID so we can match a payment to a registration.
4. How we use this information
We use the information you share to:
- Confirm and manage your camp registration.
- Reach you about lesson scheduling, weather cancellations, or pickup logistics.
- Contact you in an emergency during a session and provide appropriate care based on the medical notes you supplied.
- Maintain a signed liability waiver record as required by California law.
- Respond to questions you send through the contact form.
We do not sell or rent your information. We do not send marketing emails or text messages.
5. Service providers we rely on
We share only the minimum information needed with a small set of vendors that help operate the site:
- Stripe — processes card payments.
- Vercel — hosts the website.
- Zoho Mail — delivers and stores email sent through the contact form or registration notifications.
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf.
6. Children's privacy
Our camps serve children ages 4 through 11. We collect information about a child (name, age, allergies, equipment) only from a parent or legal guardian as part of registration — never directly from the child. The information is used solely to coach safely and to reach a parent in an emergency. We do not use it for marketing or share it outside the service providers listed above. If you believe a child's information was submitted without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. How long we keep information
Camp registration and waiver records are retained for the duration of the season and afterward for the period reasonably needed to meet California legal and insurance requirements (typically several years past the camp date). Contact-form messages are kept in our mailbox until they are no longer useful for ongoing correspondence. You may ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to those legal requirements.
8. Security
We use industry-standard hosting and TLS (HTTPS) for all traffic to the site. Payment data is handled by Stripe's PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure. No method of internet transmission is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to share only the information requested.
9. Your choices
- You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing the address below.
- You may opt out of photo and video use during registration, or by emailing us before camp begins.
- California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion. Contact us and we will respond within the statutory window.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting existing registrations will be communicated by email.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests to access, correct, or delete information, can be sent to cheryl@chucourtacademy.com.
